Robert Michael Butz, 48, of Alburtis, died on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown Campus. He and his wife, Cherrity L. (Vanim) Butz, would have celebrated 28 years of marriage on September 23. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of Sharon A. (Spadt) Swoyer and the late Jeffrey L. Butz. He was a graduate of Dieruff High School, Class of 1993 and was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allentown, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. Robert was employed by the Allentown School District for the last 31 years, currently holding the position of head groundskeeper and previously was the head custodian in different buildings in the district. He was a former professional wrestler, retiring after 20 years in 2016. Robert was a former football coach for Allentown Little Huskies and the Emmaus Youth Program and worked as a parking lot attendant for the Iron Pigs.

Survivors: Wife; Mother; Children, Cayleigh L. Butz, Matthew J. Butz and his fiancé, Erika Newhard, and Mason N. Butz; and Canine Companion, Brie. He was preceded in death by a Step-Father, William F. Swoyer; and Step-Mother, Marie E. (Young) Butz.

Services: Memorial. 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

My tag team partner for one match in front of 500 people in South Mountain's Gymnasium. It was Bobby's idea to put it on and he trained me for it and then carried me the whole match! The kids loved it. Bobby was such a positive presence and leader at SM. His sense of humor kept us all entertained. I miss him dearly.

Bobby, Butzy, Love Bug... I first met and worked with Bobby at ASD when he was Head Custodian at SMMS. I will always remember his huge sense of humor, one of the nicest, funniest, hard working men I knew. He wore many hats including Pro Wrestler aka Love Bug, his photo at Blockbuster/ Emmaus. A DJ. Iron Pigs stadium. He wore many hats and as many funny stories / jokes. We told him he could in fact quit his day job and do stand up comedy. He could make us smile/ laugh! We were sad when he moved on to grounds crew but if you saw Bobby, he always gave a wave or stopped briefly to say hello. My deepest sympathy and prayers extended to Bobby's wife and family. He will be missed!!

I´ll never forget, when Dad and I would drive around together and rock out to music in the car and just have a total blast. We would listen to all sorts of wrestling themes, 80s rock, Bee Gees, etc. we would have so much fun doing that. That´s a one memory I´ll never forget about my dad.

Condolences to the family. I had the honor to work with Bob at South Mountain middle school. He was a wonderful person to work with, he would do anything for you. I worked in child Nutrion and he was the head custodian at the school. He was a great person and I am sure he will be missed deeply. Prayers for the family. May he rest in peace.
