Robert E. Day-Lewis

Robert E. Day-Lewis, 76, a resident of Whitehall, passed away peacefully in his home on September 4, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Joan E. (Niedospial) Day-Lewis for forty-one wonderful years. Born in Dundrum, Ireland, he was the son of the late Frederick Day-Lewis and Kathleen (Nixon) Day-Lewis. Robert honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy Reserves for many years. He was stationed on the U.S.S. George Marshall submarine from 1967-1971 during the Vietnam war. He served in the U.S. Navy reserves from 1979-1998. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Northeastern University as well as a Master of Science in Geology from UMass Amherst. He was employed as a Hydrogeologist supervisor for the Department of Environmental Protection for the State of Pennsylvania. He was a member of St. Mary's church where he frequently volunteered. He also volunteered with the Ironton Trail restoration. Robert enjoyed gardening and he loved spending time with his family and his beloved grandsons. Robert was known as a kind and generous man. He was a devoted husband, loving father, brother, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joan; daughters; Lauren McGeehin, Erin Day-Lewis, Marie Filipek, and their spouses; brothers; Fred Day-Lewis, Wesley Day-Lewis, and Brian Day-Lewis; grandsons; Nathan and Colton and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA. 18032. A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
