Robert Miller McKillip, P.E.
Robert Miller McKillip, P.E., 87, of Allentown died Monday, July 9, 2012 in the Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Helen (Huss) McKillip with whom he celebrated 31 years of marriage on March 28, 2012 and the late Barbara (Baldrige) McKillip who died September 15, 1979. Born in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, he was the son of the late Blair L. and Lois (Miller) McKillip. He was a 1942 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and a 1949 graduate of Pennsylvania State University. Robert served his country in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #516, Hollidaysburg. Robert began his career as a civil engineer at the United Fruit Company, Tela, Honduras and later on worked in the same capacity for the United States Steel Company, Gary, Indiana. He moved to Allentown in 1970 and finished his career at Keystone Portland Cement Company, Bath as the plant and safety engineer. While at Keystone, he achieved Professional Engineer status. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and home renovation. Survivors: Wife; sons, Douglas B. McKillip and his wife Karen of Wilmington, DE, Dr. Robert M. McKillip, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Hopewell, NJ; stepchildren, Jeff Scholl and his wife Pam of Modesto, CA, Nancy Fitzgerald of Coopersburg, John Scholl of Richboro, Susan wife of Roger Klotz of Schnecksville; grandchildren, Dylan and Katelyn; nine step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren. Services: Funeral Service 10 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2012 in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 3231 W. Tilghman St., Allentown. Private interment in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg. Arrangements by J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
