Kathie and family,
Julie and I were terribly saddened to read of Sam´s passing. The world´s light has dimmed a bit. His life had so many accomplishments, conversations were always entertaining. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time.

Dear Laposata Family,
I had the distinct privilege and pleasure of working with Sam for over eight years, at The Evening College at Muhlenberg College. During that time, Sam could not have been a kinder or more caring human being - he touched my life. Even after I transitioned jobs, he reached out to find out how I was faring. He impacted not only my life, but also that of my family. He assisted my husband Matthew through a rocky time of employment at the college. He provided information and support for my oldest daughter Gabrielle, as she pursued college admittance through the LVAIC and Tuition Exchange program. My youngest daughter Andrea enjoyed coming into The Evening College office and meeting him. Sam trusted us on several occasions to care for "the cats", while he and Kathy were on vacation. We were happy to be able to return the kindness! There really aren't enough words to express how valued and loved he was, not only as a boss, but as a friend.
On a sorrowful note, I was working with Sam when America received the blow of 9-11. Thank God, we were all in a safer place at that time, and Sam provided emotional support as needed. On a fun note, Sam was the person who recommended the Legally Blonde movie to me, and we have viewed it often since that time. That still makes me laugh and think fondly of him!
While we are saddened by his early departure, and my own failure to remain connected in recent years, Sam Laposata will always be remembered by me and my family as "one of the good guys". Actually, that is an understatement. He will be remembered as "one of the GREAT guys"! He will be missed.

To the Laposata family,
I fondly remember my first meeting with Sam when I applied to Muhlenberg to be a member of Cohort 7 of the Accelerated Degree program. He was kind, inspiring, and deeply interested in me as a person and as a student. I felt so encouraged and confident speaking with him that first time and enjoyed all our future interactions. After 'Berg I went on to further advance my education and I am grateful to Sam for all of his support and advice. I am certain he positively touched the lives of literally hundreds of students in the same way he impacted my life.
Please accept my deepest condolences. I wish Mrs. Laposata and Sam's entire family fond memories of his life - one that was productive and well lived. May he rest in peace.

Mrs. Laposata and Family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I was a member of the initial cohort of the Accelerated Degree Program, and warmly remember my first meeting with Dr. Laposata, who throughout the program and in years following was very supportive and encouraging. I will miss him. May he rest in eternal peace and tranquility.

Mrs. Laposata and family,
I worked for Sam at Dominion also. He was a good supervisor, and I learned a lot from him. In addition, I found him to be a caring person. You all have my sincerest condolences.

To Kathie and all members of Dr. Laposata's family, my sincerest condolences on your loss. Dr. Laposata forever changed my life the day he offered me a Presidential Scholarship as an adult student at Muhlenberg College and, because of him, I became a teacher at age 40 and the first person in my family to go to college. My debt to his kindness is beyond measure. He was, without doubt, one of the most decent and honorable persons I ever met. May he rest in eternal peace.
