Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when the person had a profound impact on your life. Listen kid... was always followed by words of wisdom. The adventures I had while trucking with Sam will always be some of my fondest memories. He was one of the last "gypsy" truckers. I always said I went to the Sam's school of trucking. He will forever live in all the memories of those who knew and cared for him. He will be missed.

Mrs. Sam, George, Denise and Audrey,
It's been many, many years since I last saw Mr. Sam, but there's a memory that remains vivid in my mind. A memory of your house that was loud and filled with an abundance of love and laughter. May all of your memories help you through this sad time.
With sincere sympathy,

In the early 70's-I went to LA for the first time and that is where I met Sam Sam. We were in a diner about 3am--which was "normal" in those days. I was with some people from Allentown and when we entered the diner we sat with another person from home; Sam and his entourage.
I didn't know too much in those days , but even then I knew I was in the presence of greatness.
That is the only time I ever saw him in person, but the light and kindness that eminated from him was something I could never forget. He was definitely in a league of his own with a light that can never be extinguished. A legend in his own time.
Words seem so inadequate to express my condolences to all who are now missing that larger than life man.
It must have been GREAT to have a Father like that. Wishing you all Peace and comfort.

Remembering Sam
My dad and Sam were good buddies,
Two men from an era gone,
But remembered for its glory, its gritty perseverance,
its raucous humor, its brotherhood of love.
Sam found success through the courage of hard work.
He struck down obstacles with the pure force of faith,
And enjoyed a life of charm, giving and sharing the love.
A big man with a big heart, a beaming smile,
And with such gentle steps of kindness did he pass,
Leaving thoughts of laughter and the love of family,
For many to remember and be soothed.
And my mom loved her cousins, the Sam brothers,
But Sammy Sam was special, big and booming voice,
Love beaming from every corner of his face,
Giving her and us the gift of joyful memories.
Back in the eighties when I lived in Arizona
We would always look forward and hope to see him.
My dad's eyes would light up, Sam was coming!
Driving his truck through the desert,
stopping at a dozen places to see
His people, his friends and his blood,
scattered over the land that he traveled unafraid,
with the grit to keep going,
Sharing his energizing laughter with us,
and with those others that he uplifted along the way.

Bunny and family,
We were taken back and heart broken to hear this news. We will certainly miss the great stories he would so openly share about his life experiences, followed by his infectious laugh while at Mike and Sonya's pig roasts. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Much love,

Sam, I will always love and never forget you. I will have no one to share tennis stories with or tell me the stories of the road. You were one of a kind and my life was better just knowing you were part it. Please tell God to keep a pot of coffee ready for when we meet again. You were so big in my life from the time I was a little boy. I love you Sam and always will!

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Sam Sam...I will always remember the things he taught me when I was young in the trucking business...I will always remember his strong voice..."Kid, listen to me...you gotta do it like this to make it in this business " He taught me a lot and always had answers for every dumb question I could ask. And always tried to help if I needed something. I will miss him. So sorry for your loss.

I'm deeply sorrowed by Sam's passing. When I saw him a few months ago, he looked younger than his age and as 'indestructible' as he had as I grew up. He had a good-natured gregarious nature that he showed his love through, and we were lucky to have had him as long as we did. I want to offer my continued love to my family at Sam's loss. I pray that the many warm memories of all the thing's that happened throughout our lives help in the healing from this loss. We're watching a generation pass, and it matters that we try to fill it's 'shoes' as best we can. God bless us all.
