Stephen Barbarics Obituary

Stephen J. Barbarics
Stephen J. Barbarics (known as Pete to his friends, relatives and colleagues) died June 25. Pete resided at Sacred Heart Independent Senior Living in Center Valley for most of the past four years. With Irma (Kopfer), his wife of 36 years, he settled in Roanoke, Va., where he worked as a plant manager, and later as general manager, at Kenrose Manufacturing. In 1974, he and Irma (1922-1978) returned to the Lehigh Valley. He commuted to his general manager job at a Bloomsburg apparel facility. In his early years, he was a talented illustrator and athlete and played minor league baseball. He enjoyed playing golf, especially with his sons. Some years after Irmas death, he married divorcee Constance. Four years ago when the court granted guardianship to his son Richard, Pete moved from Cedarbrook (Lehigh Valley County Nursing Home), where he had been placed by Constance, to Richards home and later to Sacred Heart Independent Senior living. Petes sons thank the good people at Sacred Heart for the friendship, love and care both the staff and residents provided. Thankfully, Pete enjoyed the last years of his life living at Sacred Heart. Survivors: He is survived by Constance; his sons, Dennis (Barbara) of Pasadena, CA, and Richard (Tanya) of Wiliamstown, NJ; and four grandchildren; as well as nieces; and nephews. A fifth grandchild predeceased him. Services: Services were held Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Interment was at Holy Savior Cemetery in Bethlehem next to Irma.
