To Bill Kern and the Kern family,
I want to express my condolences for the loss of your brother Tom. I have fond memories of you as a fun and considerate "older" teenager playing basketball at the Herbst playground on fifth street in Allentown. My sister, Sharon Wagner CCHS class of '72, always spoke highly of Tom as kids in the old Sacred Heart Parish school and around the neighborhood.
Sincerely,
John Wagner, CCHS '67

To the Kern Family and Friends of Kernie,
We always enjoyed Tommys smile and wonderful character. He was the bright light in the room.
We will never forget his rendition of - Duke of Earl - sung both at the Greaser Dance and our 5th year CCHS class reunion. He was a man of many talents, but his biggest attribute was the way he made you feel in his presence. Warm and Caring! Rest in Peace - My friend

Annie, Children and Grandchildren,
My sincere Sympathy and prayers in your loss. I graduated with Tom. He always had a smile on his face and ready to have a good time. He was an all around "nice guy". I wanted to attend his services this evening but health issues prevented me to do so.
God Bless, Louann Martucci

I met Tom at Anytime Fitness and noticed he was a Notre Dame fan and we struck up a cpmversatopn. Also i am a member of St. Elizabeth church. He was always pleasant and had a smile for everyone. I didn't realize until I say the obituary that he was in Central Catholic the same time as my sons (Bernie and Pat Gallagher). Pat's wife Roseanne Ponticelli knew Tom and his wife. So sorry for your loss.

The only thing prettier than that smile, was Tom's two hand set shot! The last time I saw Tom he told me that he wouldn't be able to play basketball against the athletes of today's game. Somehow I think he would've found a way like he always seemed to. Rest In Peace Otto!

I was in total disbelief when I found out about your dear dear loss. I am still struggling with feelings of loss and shock for all of you. I honestly do not know what to say, but know that you are loved and cared for more than you know. Be strong, reach out to others for anything to assist you and focus on the beauty of the life lived by Tom. May God sustain you like no other can.

I was friends with Brother Bill for so many years, and I got to know Tom at shopping every Saturday morning. Either at REdners or Giant. Always a laugh, always good things to say. You can't replace people like this, you only can hold these great people in your memories. Tommy, God bless, you are living with the true Lord of our life, and God bless his family that he was so greatly blessed with. Prayers for all. Jimmy Takatsch

Anne, Amy, Samantha and family,
I am so sorry to hear this news. I was also CCHS Class of '73. I know I do not need to say that this wonderful guy from High School turned out to be a wonderful man, husband and father. He always had a nice word to say and occasionally was the joker. I looked forward to seeing him at school and would look for his smile as he was one of the reasons that made High School a better place for me.
"And He will raise you up on eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun and hold you in the palm of His Hand." God Bless.

You have my deepest sympathies. I pray in your behalf, and I look forward to the day when we will welcome back our loved ones on a Paradise earth. Ps 37:29- DS

To Annie, Amy, Samantha and Bill:
I am so sorry for your loss. Words cannot express the husband, father, brother, friend, teammate and person Tom "Otto" was although his obituary gave a pretty good synopsis of him. I pray that your pain is somewhat comforted by the fact that he made such a profound impression on all of us and we are blessed by him touching our lives.
Otto: From 4th Street, to Sacred Heart (Aces), to CCHS (Vikings), to Jordan Park, to the Herberst, you were a beloved friend, schoolmate and teammate. God Bless You and Rest in Peace. You set the bar for all of us on how one should live there life.
