Walter Krein Obituary

Walter "Walt" S. Krein, 74, of Nazareth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 3, 2021 in the comfort of his home. He was the loving husband of Susan (Mertz) Krein, they celebrated 51 years of marriage on September 27th. Walt was born on July 4, 1946 in Fountain Hill, PA. He was the son of the late Anton and Mary (Moser) Krein. Walt was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Class of 1964. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Walt worked for the former Lonestar, of Nazareth for 41 years. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Church, of Nazareth, where he also sang on the Paradise Choir. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4282, and the Sick & Relief Society at Holy Family. Every year, Walt enjoyed volunteering for the Holy Family Parish Picnic. He also volunteered at the Nazareth Area Food Bank. In addition to his wife, Walt will be deeply missed by sons, Christopher Krein and wife Anne Marie, of Malvern, PA, and Ryan Krein, of Juno Beach, FL; daughter, Amanda Wurz and husband John, of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren, Christopher, Margaret, Connor, Natalie, and Hayden; brothers, Anton Krein and wife Frances, of Moore Twp. and Carl Krein and wife Dorothy, of New Britain, CT. Family and friends of Walt are invited to a visitation on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home Inc., 220 Washington Park, Nazareth, PA 18064. A visitation will also be held on Friday, July 9, from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church, 410 W. Center St., Nazareth. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Holy Family Cemetery, of Nazareth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walt's memory to "St. Luke's Hospice House" and mailed to: 801 Ostrum St. Bethlehem, PA 18015, or to "Alzheimer's Association" and mailed to: PO BOX 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
