William F. Belkey Jr.

1939 - 2020

William F. Belkey Jr., 81, of Tatamy, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Dymond) Belkey with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Born on April 22, 1939 in Forks Township, he was a son of the late William Belkey Sr. and Evelyn (Rape) Gearinger.

Bill was a graduate of Easton High School class of 1957. Following graduation he honorably served in the US Army for two years.

Bill was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Tatamy. He was a 24 year council member for the Borough of Tatamy, officer for the Tatamy Fire Co., active with the Tatamy Athletic Association, and served as a Boy Scout leader. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at the Ten Point Hunting Club. Bill was the "go to guy" for anything broken. He loved to tinker around the house and could fix anything.

Along with his wife Jane, he is survived by two children, Ann Lahr (Tim) of Galloway, NJ, and Mark Belkey of Easton; sister, Ruth Belkey (Pat); brother, Howard Gearinger (Sarah); grandchildren, Nathan Lahr (Abby), Zachary Lahr and Jaron Belkey; great grandchildren, twins Jamison and Parker; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Sue Belkey in infancy; sister, Dorothy Lerch; and stepfather, Howard Gearinger.

A public military graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 11 a.m. in Northampton Memorial Shrine, 3051 Green Pond Road, Palmer Township, with Pastor Dale Sattizahn presiding. Face masks and social distancing will be required at the cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private viewing will be held with the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Schmidt Funeral Home, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth.
