JOANNE DIXON 12/18/1937 - 10/08/2025 DALTON, OHIO - Joanne D. Dixon, 87, passed away on October 8, 2025. Born on December 18, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to the late Edward and Dolores (Holden) Smith, she was a resident of Dalton for a period of years, previously of Woodsfield, Ohio. Joanne retired from Canton Health Care after 15 years of service as a social worker and also worked at ABZ with her first husband Richard Shade. She enjoyed her time spent in Woodsfield and was a member of the Woodsfield Senior Center. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Shade, second husband, Richard Philips, and third husband, Roger Dixon; sons, Michael, Ronald, and Richard Shade, two grandchildren, one great-grandson. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne ( Rev. Dave) Schultz of Hattiesburg, Miss., Mary (Adam) Miller of East Sparta, Ohio, Kathi (Don) Bates of Dalton; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet (Joseph) Pfab, and Jackie Smith all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Marie Shade of North Lawrence; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish - St. Barbara Catholic Church, 2813 Lincoln Way W., Massillon, OH, 44647 with Fr. John E. Sheridan, celebrant. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to service time at the church. Inurnment will then take place at Dalton Cemetery.
