Leigh Dixon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral Home-Keyser Chapel on Feb. 19, 2026.
Leigh Rhea "Wink" Dixon, 73, passed away peacefully at her residence on New Creek Highway, Keyser, WV, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 while under the care of WVU Medicine Hospice.

Leigh was born on September 13, 1952, in Petersburg, WV to the late Irene Isabelle (Cosner) Gaither Hawk and Donald Clay George; her adoptive father, Robert Lewis Gaither and her stepfather, Dewayne "Jake" Hawk.

Wink, as she was known to family and friends had an enduring spirit and a love for life that was deeply rooted in her community. She was a 1970 graduate of Catonsville High School and subsequently pursued a vibrant career as a hair stylist. For over two decades, she served her community by owning and operating Eclips Styling Salon. Known for her dedication and hard work, Leigh built many lasting relationships with her clients, treasuring each one.

Wink was a woman of faith, a lifelong member of the Mt. Storm Presbyterian Church, and also attended the Potomac Highland Baptist Church in Keyser. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with those around her.

Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, Amanda Haddix and her husband, Bo, who was Leigh's favorite son-in-law of Keyser and Joshua Getz of Ridgeley, WV. She is also survived by her beloved poodle, Pepper; her brother, Eddie Gaither and his wife Kim of Elk Garden, WV; one niece Madison Gaither; one nephew Devin Gaither; and numerous cousins and members of her extended family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Storm Presbyterian Church. Services will be conducted immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with James Collette officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Storm Cemetery.
