Matthew Ardell Thomas Obituary

Dec 22, 1999 - Jan 30, 2026

Matthew Ardell Thomas, 26, of Woodsfield, OH passed away on January 30, 2026, at Arbors in Woodsfield. He was born on December 22, 1999, to Kathleen Gordon and Howard Thomas Jr., in Columbus, OH. Matthew graduated from Swiss Hills in 2018. His daughter, Amara Mae, was born in 2021 and she was his pride and joy. He was a hard worker with jobs at Reisbeck's, the Red Head, Dominos, in the oil field, and traffic control with Bolan Timber. He was well-known in the community, and he loved spending time with friends and family. Matthew enjoyed playing video games, riding dirt bikes, and cruising the back roads of Monroe County. He loved being outside, building things, was good with electronics, and could fix just about anything. He loved visiting his family in Maryland, especially going to Ocean City, Washington, DC, and boating.

He is survived by his parents, Kathleen and Howard Thomas, Jr.; his daughter, Amara; his sister Melanie (Craig) Keller, and his brothers Christopher and Marcus Thomas. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew Allison (Nick) Plummer, Brooklyn Keller, and Xavier Thomas.

Friends and family will be received from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home in Woodsfield, OH, with Pastor Joe Hise officiating. Burial services will be held privately with the family at a later time.
