Alberta Spencer Obituary
Born in Marion, NC, on June 5, 1949, Berta's journey eventually led her to Davidson, a town she came to love and serve, and where she truly made her home. Her passion for helping others was a constant thread throughout her life.
Berta shared a loving marriage of 55 years with her husband, Mike. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and is survived by her sons, Rick (Jennifer) Spencer and Scott (Laura) Spencer; and her beloved grandchildren, Wren, Cora, and Auggie. She is also survived by her dear sisters, Louise Byrd, Jane Bartholemew, and Margaret (Jerry) Price, and a large circle of extended family and friends. She was precededin death by her parents, Roy Lee Young and Mildred Boatman Young. Condolences may be expressed at www.jamesfuneralhomelkn.com.
Friends are invited to honor Berta's memory at a celebration of life service at Davidson United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. There will be a more social celebration immediately following in the lower level of Davidson Town Hall at 251 South Street. Berta was a beautiful influence in the lives of so many of the youth at Waxaw United Methodist Church.
She was present with me at the hospital when my oldest son was in surgery to repair his broken femur. She was also like a second mom to my middle son.
I'm so grateful for all the love and kindness she modeled to the youth. Well done, good and faithful servant. May you rest in sweet heavenly peace.

Dear Mike and family,
David and I were so very sorry to hear that Berta had died. Our deepest condolences go out to all the family. We enjoyed Berta so very much when she was at Waxhaw United Methodist Church! She was a great influence on our son Darrick and the other youth at church. She made learning about God fun for the teenagers and helped many of them with their walk with Jesus.
I know she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. God bless you all and may He bring peace and comfort to you at this time.
