Joseph Quinn Obituary

Joseph Nelson Quinn Jr., 37, of Wilson died peacefully of lung cancer Monday as he was read the 23rd Psalm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of St. Therese. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Father Gregory Lowchy and the Rev. Chester West will officiate. He was born in Marion and graduated in 1987 from McDowell High School. He was a member of Chi Psi Fraternity while at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 1991. He graduated from Campbell University School of Law in 1995. Mr. Quinn served two years as an assistant district attorney in the 7th Judicial District before joining the law firm of Farris and Farris where he practiced law with his father-in-law and brother-in-law. Joe was entirely devoted to his family and his faith. He faced cancer with an unwavering strength and spirit. His dry wit was appreciated by all. Joe was a favorite uncle and cousin to a host of relatives. The family echoes the gratitude that Joe frequently expressed to everyone involved in his care these last few months. He is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline Farris Quinn; a daughter, Lillie Caroline Quinn; a son, Samuel Farris Quinn; and a cousin, Rebecca Brittany Farris all of the home; his parents, Joseph Nelson and Josephine Turner Quinn of Marion; a sister, Susan Quinn Dellinger and husband, Brad, and her children, Brittany and Lauren, all of Spruce Pine; a brother, Michael Lee Quinn and wife, Maxine, and their children, Andrew and Adam, all of Marion; and godson and nephew, Robert Soloman Farris of Greenville. The family will receive friends and serve lunch at St. Therese Catholic School following the graveside service. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be directed to St. Therese Catholic School, 700 Nash Street West, Wilson, N.C. 27893.
