Nora Ann Seagle
September 3, 1933 - January 7, 2025
Nora Ann Thompson Seagle, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, at The Village of Summerville in Summerville, South Carolina. Born on September 3, 1933, in Avery County, North Carolina, Nora was a longtime resident of Morganton, North Carolina, and had previously lived in Marion, North Carolina; McDonough, Georgia; Dillsboro, North Carolina; and Charleston, South Carolina.
Nora is survived by her son, Mike Seagle, and his wife, Lisa; her beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Justin, and Allison Seagle; and her sister, Daisy Hensley (Bud); sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Carolyn Thompson. She also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Jim Seagle; her second husband, Wade Wilson; her parents, Arthur and Varnell Thompson; her brothers, Ralph, Lee, Ted, and Sam Thompson; and her grandson, Jeremy Seagle.
A graduate of North Cove High School who later attended Berea College, Nora began her career working in the offices of American Thread and Marion Manufacturing Mill before embarking on entrepreneurial ventures with her husband, Jim. Together, they owned and operated several long-term care facilities, where Nora's natural compassion and dedication to helping others shone brightly.
Nora was deeply devoted to her family and took immense pride in their accomplishments. She loved traveling, shopping, and creating beautiful floral arrangements. Known for her kind heart and generous spirit, Nora's nurturing nature extended beyond her family to all those around her. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, the Red Hat Society, and the AARP board. She also served as an usher at the CoMMA Performing Arts Center, a volunteer with the American Red Cross, and was a member of North Morganton United Methodist Church, where she lived her faith with grace and dedication.
A memorial service to honor Nora's life will be held on January 18, 2025, at North Morganton United Methodist Church, located at 990 Sanford Drive, Morganton, NC 28655. A reception in the Fellowship Hall will take place from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place afterward.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nora's name to North Morganton United Methodist Church.
Nora Ann Thompson Seagle will be remembered as a devoted mother, Nana, sister, Aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed for the love and joy she brought to all around her.
