Phyllis Cole, born on August 04, 1949, in Paulding County, Georgia, embraced life with a spirit of determination, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. In the early morning hours of Friday, September 8, 2023, she peacefully passed away at the Magnolia Lane Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Morganton, North Carolina, surrounded by loved ones. Phyllis, who resided in Marion, North Carolina, was 74 years old at the time of her passing.

Throughout her life, Phyllis ventured into different work experiences, leaving a lasting impact on those around her. From her time at P.G. General Store in Pleasant Gardens to her dedicated service at TJ's Discount Grocery in Woodlawn, she exemplified hard work and dedication until her eventual retirement.

Phyllis had a zest for life and found solace in the beauty of the mountains, which led her to make McDowell County her home many years ago. She cherished moments of travel and vacations with her family, but her heart truly sang when spending quality time with her beloved grandchildren. Their love and laughter meant the world to her.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Reba Parks Heath; her daughter, Amy Renee Cole; grandson, Colby C. Hendon II; and brother, Donald Heath. Although their absence leaves a void, their memories will forever be cherished.

Phyllis leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by two daughters, Michelle Ryerse (Tony) and Rebecca Marler (David). Her six wonderful grandchildren, Aschli Ryerse, Taylor Ryerse, Autumn Ryerse (Jake), Cameron Marler, Logan Marler, and Caroline Marler brought immense joy to her life. Phyllis also had the joy of being a great grandmother to Anya Ryerse. She is also survived by her sister, Sue Wagner; as well as her nephew, Ken; and nieces Karen and Kathy.

As we remember Phyllis and celebrate her life, a gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 2 to 6 p.m. at The Courtyard at Little Acres, located at 200 Little Acres Drive in Marion, North Carolina.
