Clement Fisher Obituary

Clement W. Fisher, a Muscogee (Creek) citizen and a resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma for the past 25 years, passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2024, at the age of 77. Born Nov. 9, 1946, he was the second son born to Christine and Samuel A. Fisher in Dallas, Texas.
In 1950, Clem moved with his family to Cobb, Oklahoma, a small community SE of Texanna.
The family lived with his paternal grandparents for about a year then moved to New Edinburg, Arkansas to live with his maternal grandparents.
In the summer of 1952, Clement and his brothers and sisters returned to Oklahoma.
After the birth of his third sister, the family settled in Checotah, Oklahoma.
Clement W. Fisher is a 1966 graduate of Checotah High School. After graduating, he joined and served in the Air Force for 3 ½ years and was stationed at Dover AFB, Delaware.
He then joined and served in the Navy for 3 ½ years and was stationed on the USS John F. Kennedy.
After seven years in the service, Fisher joined the Army and remained in the Army for 15 years.
Clement W. Fisher was a Sergeant First Class, stationed at Ft. Dix, New Jersey when he retired with a veteran's service record of 22 years.
In his teenage years, Clement taught himself how to play the guitar. An injury to his left hand crippled CW and he was unable to chord with his left hand. So he became a left-handed guitar picker and continued to play throughout his life and owned several instruments.
He joined a band and played his guitar for several church groups and organizations.
In his later years, CW played his guitar at the church he attended in Muskogee.
Clem was also a woodworker. He made several crafts, pieces of furniture and remodeled the house where he resided.
Clement was a devoted son. He loved and honored his mother all the days of his life. He cherished her memory after her passing and kept several mementos that once belonged to her.
Clement W. Fisher was laid to rest next to his mother at Greenlawn Cemetery in Checotah, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his older brother, Cecil, who is buried at Fishertown Cemetery and his parents, Christine Fisher and Samuel Aubrey Fisher.
CW is survived by his wife of 31 years, Theresa Fisher; a stepson, Lee; three daughters, Laura, Sherry and Wendy, birthed by his first wife; his younger brother, Cedric; three sisters, Nevelyn, Carolyn and Marilyn; two nieces and two nephews.
CW Fisher made lasting impressions on all those he met and he will be missed by many.
