DARRELL DECKER Obituary

DARRELL DEAN DECKER SR. Darrell Dean Decker Sr., 80, left to be with our Lord and Savior on October 6, 2024 in Mansfield, TX. He resided at Legend of Mansfield with his wife, Barbara. He died peacefully with family at his bedside. Darrell was born to Vernon "Red" and Doris Decker in Mc Pherson, KS on April 13, 1944. His proud parents brought him home and raised him in Galva. Darrell graduated from Galva High School as class Vice President in 1962. It was by the grace of God he graduated after pulling a prank in which they launched a typewriter from a second story window of a teacher that happened to be married to the Principle. He married his high school sweetheart Aloma Rhea on April 7, 1963. Darrell served the Air Force from 1963 - 1967. He inherited an entrepreneur gene from his father Vernon "Red" and moved back to Galva KS to help his father make a power washing truck and start a power washing business. He moved the truck and his family back to Austin, TX and ran his business until he became a Firefighter for the city of Austin. His desire to own and run his own company led him to buy his first car wash and the business continued to grow. After selling his carwashes, he moved the family to Arlington, TX. He fell in love and married Barbara on June 6, 1993. His favorite pass time was worshiping and witnessing to others about Jesus. Darrell and Barbara would host bible studies and frequently visit fellow worshipers in the hospital until they retired and moved into assisted living. Darrell is survived by his wife Barbara and his ex wife Aloma. His children Darrell Dean Decker II (wife Monica), Amy Jean Decker Bettner (husband Michael), Derick Dustin Decker (wife Patricia), Ken McKnight (wife Shannon) and Karen Keys (husband Doug). He was blessed with eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Winette (Elizabeth) Whitlock, Debbie Dilling (husband Richard) and his sister-in-law Carol Decker. Darrell is predeceased by his parents Vernon "Red" (2003) and Doris (2013), his siblings Tony (2020), Daus (2022) and nephew Daniel (2020). Memorial service will be held at Dallas-Ft Worth National Cemetery on a later date.
