SHERRILL WEDEL Obituary
SHERRILL WEDEL

Born on January 9, 1936, to Ethel (Werner) and Leonard Westerman in Moundridge KS, Sherry was the youngest of seven children. She always loved being with family and enjoyed the many years of memories her siblings and their families created together. Through the years and as Sherry's health declined, she would often be visited by her nieces and nephews, expressing appreciation for the closeness they shared.
Sherry married Waldean Wedel in 1954 and they had four children. Over the years, they made home for their family in Moundridge and Newton, moving to Hesston KS in 1977. Sherry and Waldean shared a deep love for each other and were blessed with a marriage of 57 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, attending church, spending time with friends, and gathering with family. They started many mornings together sitting outside drinking their first cup of coffee.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters; and husband.
Sherry is survived by her children; Wendy Seger (Lyle), Janelle Brunner (Ted), Christopher Wedel (Dawn), and Corey Wedel (Teresa); seven grandchildren: Rachel Seger Cobos (Denis), Hannah Lytle (Brandon), Tyler Wedel (Shelbie), Caitlyn LaHaye (Grant), Jacey Morrison (Braedon), Kira Jeffries (Tyrell), and Aaron Wedel; and five great-grandchildren: Samuel, Oliver, Banks, Kanton, and Addison.
Sherry will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening and growing flowers, reading books and daily devotionals, and was known for her coloring pages that she proudly displayed outside her apartment.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening, April 18, 2025 from 5-7pm at the Schowalter Villa Chapel in Hesston KS.
