David Clotfelter Obituary

David Roy Clotfelter, age 85 of Marietta, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 23, 2025.David was born in Marietta, Georgia on November 13, 1939 to Max Edwin Clotfelter and Ida R. Roberts Clotfelter. David began his working career early in 1952 as a stocker for Dupree's Grocery on the Marietta Square. He attended Marietta High School ('57) and The Citadel. He enlisted in the US Navy and served at Moffett Field, CA. David was an entrepreneur, owning liquor stores around Cobb County, and worked over a decade at Lockheed Martin. David had a zest for life and profound love for his family. His passions and hobbies included golf, car collecting, woodworking, reading, folk art, and country music. Above all David loved storytelling and spending time with family and friends. David took deep pride in the accomplishments of all three of his children and was always one call a way to provide sage advice or a listening ear. In his latter days he moved to St Simons Island where he spent five wonderful years. His days were consumed spending time with his wife, reading and walks on the beach. Survivors include wife Kathy Crowell, daughter Elinor Ann Clotfelter (Christopher), sons Max Edwin Clotfelter (Kelly), John Thomas Clotfelter (Laura), Alex Crowell (Lynna); grandchildren Charlotte and John Thomas Clotfelter, Ella, Lucy, and Phoebe Ketron, and Sonny Daniel.

Services will be held on Monday, March 10th, at 2:00PM at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Historic Marietta Chapel in Marietta, Georgia. The family will receive guests for two hours prior to the service.
