Mr. George H. Wallace, age 86, of Smyrna, GA passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Funeral Services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026 in the chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Dr. Richard Walker officiating. Burial will follow on Monday, February 23rd at 3:30pm at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1pm until 3pm on Sunday prior to the ceremony at the funeral home.
Born in Marietta, GA, Mr. Wallace was a lifelong resident of Cobb County. After graduating from Marietta High School, he served in the United States Army. He then joined the City of Marietta and was the Director of Sanitation, retiring after 48 years of employment. He was a proud member of the Creepers Car Club. Mr. Wallace was currently a member of Hurt Road Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon for various churches during his life. He had a passion for visiting people in need. He was preceded in death his daughter, Vicki Diane Portwood.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Frances Jarrett Wallace; a son, Jim (Renee') Clark, Dallas, GA; brothers, Calvin (Jean) Wallace, Douglasville, GA, and Doug (Brenda) Wallace, Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Madison Clark, Dallas, GA, and Whitney (A.J.) Bray, Waco, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Creepers Car Club to be used for charities that they partner with.
