I considered Ellen to be my best friend in high school at West Rome High. We both played clarinet in the band and I recall her sharing her instrument with me while playing at a football game when I forgot mine. I also recall many, many visits to her home and wonderful conversations with her gracious mother. She was raised in a beautiful home at the base of the hill below Shorter College. The house was next door to my high school sweetheart, Chuck Cade's house. I am thankful that I got to see Ellen at the 50 and 55 year reunions. May you rest in peace, sweet Ellen. Love, Nancy Ryer Bass

My sister was my best friend in our adult lives. I will cherish forever our trips and adventures. My dog Jumper loved her more than me and eagerly anticipated her visits with Ellen. How many people can say that! She battled ovarian cancer for three years with fortitude and grace. She was indeed a brave woman. May she rest in peace. Loving her forever.
