Jerry Bobby Thomason

1945 - 2026

Jerry Bobby Thomason, age 80 passed away on January 24, 2026 with his wife, Tricia by his side. Jerry was the second of five siblings born to J.B. and Daisy Belle Thomason. He was born and raised in Powder Springs, Georgia. Jerry began working for Coca-Cola as a young man before being called to serve in Vietnam. He was a proud Sergeant, U.S. Army, 1st Cavalry Division veteran. He served as a scout dog handler, walking point for the Infantry. Jerry loved his dog and said it saved his life many times. He rejoined Coca-Cola and retired after 40 years of service. Jerry loved the outdoors---hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, golf or sitting on the deck of their Big Canoe mountain home enjoying the mountain view and watching for passing wildlife. He looked forward to their weekly walks in Gibbs Gardens. He enjoyed being physically fit and was devoted to a daily exercise routine. Travel was a passion and he and Tricia traveled extensively, visiting 6 of the 7 continents as well as almost all states in the US. He always wanted to have at least one trip planned and booked so he could look forward to it. He tabbed the travel brochures so there was always another adventure on the horizon.

Jerry was a Christian believer and was a member of Mt Zion United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles and his son, Michael.

He is survived by his wife, Tricia, brother Larry (Sherry), sisters Glenda Roland and Marie (Greg) Johnston, his beloved grandsons Alex Thomason and Nicolas Thomason and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30, at 11:00 A.M. in Mayes Ward Dobbins Historic Marietta Chapel. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2:00 P.M., at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Flowers are appreciated, alternatively, memorial donations may be made to ALS United of Georgia.
