Patsy Dumbleton Obituary

March 2, 1946 -

February 4, 2022

Patsy (Pat) Jane Worley Dumbleton, 75, of Marietta, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, peacefully at her daughter's home with her girls by her side. Pat was born March 2, 1946, in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late John Wesley and Helen McWhirter Worley.

Pat attended West High School in Knoxville where she excelled in her studies, was introduced to society as a Debutante, attended college at the University of Tennessee earning a BSEd specializing in Early Education, and was an active member of AOII Sorority.

Upon graduating from UT, Pat accepted her first teaching position in Atlanta at The Heiskell School while completing her Master's of Education at Georgia State University. Pat transitioned to Pace Academy, where she met her husband, Kenneth (Ken) Lee Dumbleton, and they married on August 3, 1974. She continued teaching at Pace until 1980 when her youngest daughter was born. Pat had a gift for mathematics and tutored children of all ages at the local schools. Once her girls were grown, Pat returned to full-time teaching in Marietta. After retirement, she enjoyed years of substitute teaching - teaching children was Pat's passion, and she touched the lives of so many.

Pat was also the ultimate volunteer supporting her children and Ken every step of the way. She excelled at hosting the most fantastic parties, sharing her iconic southern hospitality with everyone she met. Pat's friends are a wonderfully diverse representation from all walks of life, and her girls admire her most for instilling in them the gift of cherishing everyone they meet. Pat was a fixture on the school PTA boards, an active member of Northside United Methodist Church, and an advocate for the Spina Bifida Association supporting a cause dear to her and benefiting their youngest daughter. Pat's footprint is present throughout her community, and her children and grandchildren are grateful for the lasting legacy.

Along with her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Dumbleton. She is survived by her two daughters, Peyton Dumbleton Robberts (Julius) and Rebecca Dumbleton; her grandchildren, Anelize, McWhirter, Kendley, and Gerius Robberts; as well as her brother, John (Wesley) Worley Junior (Pat), Wesley's daughter Gail Worley; and her sister Helen Worley Davis (Wingfield (Wink) Austin Davis Junior) and their children, Allison Jabaley (Andy), Austin Davis-Selph (Douglas) and Matthew Davis (Christa).

A private graveside service was held at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Sandy Springs, GA in February, officiated by close family friend, Reverend Andy Rogers, and followed by a beautiful Celebration of Life where Pat's family enjoyed visiting with her friends and reminiscing over fabulous "Pat Stories"!
