Merced, California - On Sunday, March 28, 2021, David Franco Ortiz, passed away at the age of 69.
David was born November 13, 1951 in Hanford and was raised in Merced. On June 19, 1971, he married Ginny Vega, the love of his life. They started their life together in Salinas where David worked at Smuckers. In 1984, they moved back to Merced where they raised their family.
David was a kind, gentle, loving, understanding husband, father, "Papa", uncle and so much more. He was a simple man with a great sense of humor who loved music. His home was always open to anyone and everyone, where they were welcomed with open arms. David would always put everyone's needs before his own, even if it meant giving you the shirt off his back. He loved his family and always made sure they knew it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentin and Maria, sister Rosie and son David. He is survived by his wife Ginny, his six children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister Ernestine Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was a die hard RAIDERS fan who was never short on words when it came to expressing his thoughts and opinions on your football team of choice. He would always finish family prayers with......"God Bless the RAIDERS!"
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 2,2021 at Ivers and Alcorn in Merced at 12pm.
