Jeanne Thomas Obituary

Jeanne Thomas
December 24, 1949 - November 21, 2021
Manteca, California - Jeanne Ann Thomas passed away on November 21, 2021, at the age of 71, with her family members by her side, after a lengthy battle with multiple sclerosis.
Jeanne was born on Christmas Eve, 1949, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was the first child born to Jim and Neva Thomas, who later "blessed" Jeanne with two little brothers, Jim and Joe.
In 1959, the Thomas family moved to Manteca. Jeanne attended Lindbergh and Lincoln Elementary Schools and was a member of the Manteca High School Class of 1968. Jeanne was a banner girl in the band of Leroy Darling and was the letter "T" of MANTECA.
After high school, Jeanne became certified to perform electrocardiograms (EKG) and electroencephalograms (EEG). She worked for several years as an EKG/EEG technician at Mercy Medical Center, Merced.
After a time, no doubt inspired by her educator parents, Jeanne decided to return to school to obtain an elementary education teaching credential. Jeanne taught school in Merced before moving to Manteca. There, she was especially honored to teach at Brock Elliott School, as Brock was a close personal friend of Jeanne's during their years at Manteca High. After a few years of teaching, Jeanne was forced to retire as a result of her illness.
Upon retirement, Jeanne focused all of her considerable energy and love on her family and her many, many friends. She loved meeting her buddies at Bean and Leaf and going to the clubhouse at the Del Webb Community. She could often be seen scooting down Union Road in her motorized chair with her beloved service Labrador, Tommy. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Ladies. Her spirit was remarkable. She made the most of every day and took shopping trips and lunch outings with friends in her specially equipped van. In spite of her illness, she complained very little and remained positive about life. Her faith in the Lord gave her peace in knowing that she would spend eternity with Jesus. She was truly an inspiration to all of those who loved her and she will be greatly missed.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Bob Hall, her daughter Jerri Brown and husband Chris, her daughter Melissa Doty and special friend Bernie, granddaughters Jackie and Maddie Brown, her brother Joe and his wife Julie, her brother Jim and his wife Carol, nephews John, David (Erin), James and Joseph Thomas; nieces Lisa Rhatigan (Casey), Jessica Thome (Austin), and Janette Thomas.
A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held on Friday morning, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Manteca. Burial will be private.
Memorial donations in Jeanne's name may be made to St. Paul's Church; American Hospice & Home Health 6850 Regional St. Ste 100A, Dublin, CA 94568; National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the charity of your choice.

Jeanne was truly a special person. She was a strong, determined woman with a positive attitude toward life. We had so much fun shopping, hanging out at Bean & Leaf, discussing books in our book club, trips to the coast, and just sitting around talking. When I ran for school board, she visited every single home in Del Webb campaigning for me. I miss Jeanne!

Heartfelt condolences to Jeanne's family and friends. May you find comfort in all the lovely memories of your time with her.
Jeanne was my dear friend since the early 90s, when we taught 2nd/3rd Grade GATE classes next to each other at Reyes School in Merced. Through the years, we shared so many good times and adventures, especially our wild and crazy New Orleans trip, and the many overnight and day trips around California. I will miss her strong will, great conversation, and quick wit. This world is a little less bright without her in it. RIP, my dear friend.

Jeanne was a friend from church . We spent time together at a favorite eating spot ( Mexican food) , movies at The State Theatre , getting frozen yogurt, visiting a horse ranch with the Grand Girls and walking our dogs.
