Merced, California - Jesse Cordero Hernandez, born October 9, 1936 and a lifetime resident of Merced, CA, died on December 1, 2021. He passed peacefully in his daughter's home in Atwater, CA. surrounded by his loving family.
Jesse is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosalie I. Cervantes Hernandez; his children, Sandra Medeiros (Shelby), Carol Freitas (Richard), Martin Hernandez, and Jesse Hernandez Jr., grandchildren, Jennifer (Victor), James, Jordan, Christopher and Justin (Alaina) and 3 great-grandchildren and sister, Mary Sapien. He is preceded in death by his parents Martin Hernandez and Candalaria Cordero, his sisters, Angie Perez, Rosie Montano, Frances Garcia, and brothers, Venceslaus Torres, Frank Torres, Joe Torres, Lawrence Torres, and Angel Torres.
Jesse worked for BAC Pritchard for 30 years and over the last 20 years owned a lawn service and worked until he was 84. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an active member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church as a parishioner and usher and attended church every Saturday evening. Jesse enjoyed gardening and spending time outside and the company of his great-grandchildren Emi, Mateo and Tristan.
A Viewing will be held at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home on December 8th from 5 – 7pm. A rosary will be held at 9:30 am and funeral mass at 10 am on December 9th at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Merced, Ca. Interment will follow the mass at Evergreen Memorial Park, Merced, Ca.
