John Marion Leonardo

October 26, 1947 - December 11, 2023

Granite Bay, California - John was born in Merced, California to parents Paul and Veleria Leonardo. He passed away peacefully in the comforts of his Granite Bay home after a long battle with a rare muscle disease; Polymyosistis.

John spent his childhood growing up on a local dairy. He retired after 35 years of dedicated service with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. He continued his career as an analytical consultant for one of the largest firms in the world.

John loved his family, his faith, golfing, softball, trips to Reno, gardening, and cruising.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheryl Leonardo; children: John Leonardo Jr. (Connie), Shaunae Leonardo (Steve), Nicci Anderson, Shane Leonardo, and Britt Vance; his 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; his brothers Joe, Jerry and David Leonardo and sister Carlotta Morgan. He is also survived by son-in-law Bob Anderson, his brother and sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Veleria Leonardo, his brother Paul Leonardo II, and sister Joene Mato.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am. 671 E Yosemite Ave. Merced, Ca 95340.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

This was my baseball coach back in 80 s he taught me well and thoroughly a terrific man with a tremendous heart and driven to all his young players to achieve their fullest well remembered and will never forget thank you John
