Leon Mann Obituary

Leon Mann, (Leo) was born January 27, 1941 in Spokane, Washington, and passed away August 20, 2018 in Merced, California. He grew up in the Moran Prairie area, near Spokane, where he attended Valleyford Elementary School and graduated from Freeman High School.
He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He was a Missile Maintenance Technician for both the Mace and Minuteman Missiles. He then trained to be a Boom Operator on the KC-135 Stratotanker planes. His military career took him to bases all over, including Bitburg, Germany; Orlando, Florida; Great Falls, Montana; Oscoda, Michigan; and finally to Castle AFB, in Atwater, California, where he retired.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, grandson Dominic, and grandson Ryan. He is survived by his daughter, Sonja Hunter (Tim), his son, Lorin Mann (Michelle), and grandchildren Christopher, Evan, Ethan, and Emma. He is also survived by his sister, Carleen Wickstrom (Roy) and his brother, Aaron Mann (Barbara).
Leo was a skilled mechanic and welder. Where ever he lived, he always had a garage or workshop full of tools and equipment that could handle any kind of job. He loved helping friends and family with any mechanical repair. He was always busy working on a project, and had a special knack for rebuilding engines. He really enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, which was a hobby he loved sharing with his son, Lorin. Following the wishes of Leo, services will be private.
