Mark Elmore Sorensen
Jan. 27, 1944 - May 31, 2016
Mark Elmore Sorensen who was raised in Los Banos and lived in Newman for past 40 years passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in Palo Alto on May 31, 2016.
He was born in Abilene, TX and came to Los Banos with his parents Al and Eileen Sorensen in 1947.
He graduated from Los Banos schools and Sacramento State in 1965. Mark married Pamela Broberg, daughter of Allen and Helen Broberg of Turlock and upon college graduation Mark served in the European forces of the US Army stationed in Germany.
Erron, Pam and Mark's only child now lives with his wife Tamara and his 3 children Reagan, Kale and Dane in the Portland Oregon area.  Mark is also survived by his mother Eileen and his brother Miles (Cina) both of Los Banos as well as nieces Kendall Wilson (Rich) and Paige Rose (Fort Collins, CO) and Nels Sorensen of Modesto also several cousins living in the Eastern US.
Mark worked as a probation officer in Monterey County before moving to Newman in 1976 where he opened Sorensen's Hardware, which he operated for many years before pursuing other endeavors including sales, truck driving and teaching. In his free time Mark was an avid wood worker who loved to carve.
