Victoria Selzer Obituary
July 12, 1924 - March 4, 2013
Vickie passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 4, 2013. She was 88 yrs old. Vickie was born and raised on the Pedras family farm and graduated from Merced High School in 1942. She worked locally with her family until she married her husband of 55 years, the late Colonel (retired) William R. Selzer. Together they built a good life while raising four children. They bought property, raised almonds for many years and were active throughout the local community. Vickie was especially proud of the St Anthony's School paper drive that she organized and ran for many years.
Vickie was a lifelong local resident. She was very involved with the Catholic community and St Anthony's School. She is survived by her four children, Elaine (husband Rob Parker), Elizabeth (husband David Friedman), William Jr. (wife Jana), and Frederick (Gail Basham). Also surviving Vickie are her brother Joe Pedras and sisters Marie Pedras and Jessie Pedras. In addition she and husband Bill have 3 grandchildren, Jill (husband Steve Vallie), Christopher, and Samantha (husband Lukasz Stateczny) and 8 great-grandchildren (Zachary, Autumn, Raely, Landon, Dominic, Ava, Mari and Vincent.)
Visitation/viewing will be Sunday, March 10, 4-6pm at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 1290 Winton Way, Atwater, CA. The rosary will be prayed at 5pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, March 11, at 9 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (Buhach Rd near Hwy 99. Vickie will be buried at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA with her husband. On-site services will be at 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations be made in Vickie's name to St Anthony's School, 1801 Winton Way, Atwater, CA 95301.
Vickie will be missed by all who knew and loved her!

My condolences to you all on the loss of your mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and sister. I lived across the street from Vickie and Bill with my aunt and uncle, Edith and Allan Good, for several of my teenage years and came to know Vickie as a familiar visitor to our home. Long after I left, she continued to be a strong and helpful presence to my aunt and uncle. Indeed, it was she who called me here in Texas one night to tell me my uncle was dying and that I needed to get out there fast. I did as she told me and was able to see him before he passed.
