Albert Carl 'AC' Balleria

Resident of Goose Creek, South Carolina Albert C. Balleria passed away on May, 2007 after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born September 27, 1943 in Vero Beach, FL to Albert Carl Balleria (deceased) and Irene Balleria. Al or 'AC' as he was called at home attended St. Helen's grade school in Vero Beach. Later the family moved to Flint, MI where he attended St. Matthew's High School and graduated from Midland High in Midland, MI where the family moved a few years later. Al received both his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and his MBA from Central Michigan University. During Al's successful business career he worked for a variety of companies including Saginaw Steering Gear, Dow Corning, Siltec Corp, PRI, Materials Research Corp and most recently Novellus Corp. in Sunnyvale, CA where he retired as Sr. Director of Operations/ Manufacturing in September 2005. His career with Novellus brought him to Taipei, Taiwan where he was Sr. Director of World Wide Field Operations for 3 years. Al lived in California from 1975-1982 then moved to Nashua, NH from 1982-1990 and back to Mountain View, CA from 1990-1999 & 2003-2005 and Taipei, Taiwan from 1999-2003, and then retired to Goose Creek, SC in January of 2006.During his life he had a passionate hobby of making and collecting toy soldiers. He will always be remembered for his love and enthusiasm for 49er games, scenic drives and especially good merlot wine and home cooked meals. Al was famous at Christmas for cooking a delicious Rock Salt Prime Rib and scrumptious Gulver's Cream Corn. Al was extremely grateful for all the family, friends, former co-workers and neighbors who unselfishly helped him and visited him during his 6 month battle with cancer. Al is survived by his mother Irene Balleria of Midland, MI; daughter Toni Gibson, her husband James Gibson and daughters Peyton and Devon of Ft. Huachuca, AZ; daughter Teri Poole, her husband Michael Poole and their sons, Ben, Jack and Shane of Beaverton, OR; sister Barbara Jackson of Pleasanton, CA.; brother Brian Balleria, his wife Joan Bechtold and their children Marina and Carlo of Minneapolis, MN; niece Wendy Murphy and husband Eamon Murphy and their children Keegan and Keeley of Lafayette, CA; and nephew David Jackson and his son David of Valley Springs, CA.A private Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held in Al's honor on August 1, 2007, at the Wente Vineyards in Livermore, CA. Al will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by all who knew and loved him. Al and I were co-workers at Dow Corning Medical Products Plant, Hemlock, MI. Our last contact was more than 20 years ago, but I will always remember Al as being humorous and a great humanitarian. My sympathy to his family. His friend, Don Belisle

Al and I were co-workers at Novellus Systems for a number of years in the 1990s. I remember his postive attitude and professionalism, his wonderful sense of humor, and his love of toy soldiers. He will be missed.
