How quickly time has passed. Now I am the older fellow, 81 very soon, who still has such fond and respectful memories knowing our President, Alex Hart, at Hart's San Jose. I was a college student working part time at Hart's and then I quickly joined the Executive Training program....my first job as a buyer was for the Stationey, Greeting Cards and Christmas Shop. I loved my job and I advanced as we prepared for the new Westgate store and even opened a small Twig in Mountain View. It was all very exciting for me and I gained a wonderful back ground retail knowledge thanks to Mr. Hart and others too...I moved on to other stores and even California Buying office positions .... none of it would have been possible without the support and kind enthusiasm of Alex Hart. I will eternally give thanks for the gift I was given, Mr. Alex Hart in my then young life. Leonard Clark aka Leonardo Ricardo/San Miguel Duenas, Guatemala.

Time is flying by. I am now retired and living in Guatemala near Antigua. After a very busy life in retail, wholesale, product development I work in my Art Studio each day. Alex Hart was/is a major influence in my life, now and when I was a young executive trainee, then buyer, at Hart's. I think of Alex, Mr. Hart, often, HE REMAINS A GREAT INFLUENCE IN MY LIFE...soon I will be 78 and I am blessed to have wonderful memories of my years at Hart's and my training as a young merchant and professional person. Besides, Alex had a great sense of humor! Win, win, win!

I wrote a tribute to beloved Alex who was a hero to me in many ways...a great boss and friend (hello to Brooke, A.J. and Theodore from Len Clark a once young buyer at Hart´s).

AJ & Brook,
I just wanted to express my sympathy to you and your families. We lived next door to you for many years on Alameda Way and although I only met your Dad a few times, I'm sure he was a wonderful man and you will miss him.
Sincerely,
Gerri Ferrari

Alex was a man of integrity and great courage through out his life. He was a loyal friend, and a mentor to many. He championed causes both popular and unpopular; he was a great support to the gay community when it was not politically correct, and shamlessly stood by those friends. I extend my heart felt sympathy to his lovely family, and want them to know that I feel the lost of a dear and close friend. I love you Alex, and thank you for all you stood for. You were unique and special in every way. I'm going to miss you terribly, along with your naughty laugh, and that wicked wit. God bless and keep you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Alex did so much for the Santa Clara Valley over these many years and helped so many of us. Words can not express our gratitude for everything he did. Knowing him was an honor.
