I had the opportunity to work with Art at Breuners in the 1970's. Art was always the go to guy to show us the ropes. Great times! Back then, our group was Art, Chuck Oeland, Nick Gutierrez, John Battiato, Jon Tesik and Al Chan. Art was always up on sports. There was a guy in the loading dock named Louie. Louie thought that he knew the local basketball scene and he and Art would bet on the games. I remember seeing Art's tally in the stockroom. There must have been 15 to 20 hashmarks indicating that Louie lost! Art really knew his stuff. My thoughts are with the Meade family during this tough time. I'll end with a quote from Hawkeye Pierce - Mash "Finest Kind"

Dear Susan
We were heartbroken to hear the news of Art's passing last week. Immediately our thoughts went to you, Benjamin and Stephen as many wonderful memories raced back into our minds. As I am sure with most people who met Art , in our minds he was truly one of the good guys. Lisha and I are further saddened that we are both out of town tomorrow and will miss Art's funeral. We want you to know, however, that among the many heavy hearts that will be there tonight and tomorrow, ours will be with you as well wishing you the strength and courage we know Art would want you to have. Our sincerest condolences.

I met Art back in 2002 when we coached our kids together in little league! Back then I admired his knowledge of the game and how well he worked with the kids. Always instructing and always being postitive. As I got to know him better and shared so many great times with him and Susan I began to realize just how awesome of a person he was and how much he loved his family. Art will always be remembered as an intelligent, fun loving and kind person and will always be in my thoughts!

Art was always gentle, kind, and loving. He always included me, as his cousin of the same age, when his family came to visit every summer (except when he and my brother David were playing baseball!). It's amazing that 11 kids + several other cousins could spend that much time together and not fight. Art's gentle and joyful nature was a big piece of that, and he continued that effect throughout his adult life. He is already sorely missed. Sending love and light to the whole family. I love you.

Art was an extremely generous, thoughtful, caring individual whose absence will be difficult to bear for the community, his friends and most of all his exceptional family. His words, smile, actions, examples, and legacy will continue though.
