Donald Schaefer Obituary


SCHAEFER, Donald-- 66, passed away September 15, 2002, doing what he loved most - fishing on the Klamath River. He and his loving wife of 36 years, Jere, lived between Mt. View and Klamath during the last 20 years.
Mr. Schaefer was born October 27, 1935, in Santa Rosa, CA. His career spanned over 30 years as a Mt. View recreation supervisor, running the youth, and Senior Center and tennis programs. He started the Mt. View Tennis Club and he ran the National Handcourts for 12 year olds. He was on the Northern California Tennis Board. Don most recently helped coach the Del Norte High School Girls' Tennis team in Crescent City.
Survivors included his wife, Jere, brother Bill (Bonnie); mother-in-law, Andrea Klein; brother-in-law, Mike Klein; nephews Michael (Natalie & Ross), Douglas (Susan); Brandon & Matthew; nieces Stephanie (Justen & Emma), Veronica (Doug, Matthew & Katherine) and Kimberly (John).
Private family services will be held. The family respectfully requests no floral gifts, contributions may be made in Don's memory to Del Norte High School Scholarship Fund, attn: Doris Whalen, 1301 Eldorado, Crescent City, CA 95531. Specify Don Schaefer's Memorial Girls' Tennis scholarship.

Don, You did so much for tennis for Mtn View. To me, you were Mr.Mtn View Open. You will be missed at the tournament as well as the area. May you rest in peace Don.....
