Frank Commiciotto Obituary

Frank Patrick Commiciotto of San Jose, passed away on June 6, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 78 years old and fought pancreatic cancer for 4.5 years. Born in Passaic, NJ, and raised in the Athenia section of Clifton, Frank was the eldest of Catherine and Patsy Commiciotto's three children. To his NJ family and friends, he will always be Rusty. He spent his childhood years causing a ruckus at School 13 with his friends, the Rudy Bops. He graduated from Clifton High in 1962.In September of 1964, Frank joined the US Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was deployed to the Dominican Republic. After two years of service as an army cook, he was honorably discharged and returned to his hometown. In October of 1968, Frank and his friend, Evans, decided to head west and leave the snow behind. His family thought he'd be back in 6 months, but they were here to stay. On the eve of Thanksgiving that same year, he met the love of his life, Linda. They married in September of 1971 and were together for over 51 years. When asked his secret for a long and happy marriage he would always say, "We have fun."Frank and Linda had two daughters and two grandchildren, whom he loved spending time with. He enjoyed taking long walks, going on trips, fixing things around the house, watching horse racing, and most importantly, having fun. In later years, he enjoyed going to the 82nd Airborne Association conventions around the country and reconnecting with army friends. Once a week, he volunteered with his wife at Rosewood Community Church's food pantry, Operation Share.Frank began his career in electrical work and spent the last 22 years at the Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in San Jose, where he ultimately became the chief engineer. He was a dedicated employee and well-respected by his colleagues.Frank is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his daughter Alison and grandson Luca; his daughter Katie and granddaughter Remy; his sisters Patricia Commiciotto and Ellen (Mike) Henry, and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to be made in his name to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org), Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org), or Notre Dame High School in San Jose (https://www.ndsj.org/support-nd/support-nd).A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 3:00, on June 21, 2023, at Rosewood Community Church with a reception at 4:30 at Fiorillo's.

I was so sad to hear of Frank's passing. He was a good friend and a pleasure to be around. He was generous with his time and always willing to help others. I came to know Frank from work, over 30 years ago. Working with him was something I always enjoyed, he was such a cheerful, happy-go-lucky character. In later years, in our separate careers, he was an important part for my own early success in business, something I'll always be grateful for.

Rest in peace, Frank, you'll be missed.
