Gilbert Solis Obituary
April 1940-Dec. 7, 2017
Resident of Sunnyvale
Gil, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed peacefully on December 7th.
Gil was born in San Jose, California and served in the US Peace Corps in East Africa. After returning from Africa, he fell in love with teaching and, for over 30 years, shared his passion for history and english (ESL) at Sunnyvale High School and Fremont High School (his alma mater), instilling a love of learning to countless students.
Survived by his wife Saida, son Moez, daughter Nargis and his four grandchildren. Other surviving family members include many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at LIMA & CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave., Sunnyvale, on Saturday, Dec 16th at 1pm with visitation commencing at noon. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Native American Rights Fund.

Gil was one of my best friends during high school years at Fremont High. He was active in Student Government and Sports resulting in being highly respected by all his peers. We all had a lot of fun and enjoyed those years and Gil was in the center of it. Though after, we chose different paths toward our future, I have thought of him often. My sincerest best wishes to his family and friends on his passing. He was a good man, and I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. Solis would be so proud of him. They were great people.
