Henry G. DeVoss passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his family on October 1, 2014. He was a longtime resident of Almaden Valley and an active and devoted member of The Episcopal Church of Almaden. "Hank" as he was commonly called was born to Lily and George DeVoss in New Albany, IN on August 12, 1926. As a result of his academic achievements Hank was able to participate in the Navy's V-12 program during WWII. While in the program he attended both the Universities of Notre Dame and Illinois where he earned degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Natural Sciences. He remained active in the Naval Reserve until 1966.
Hank spent his professional career with General Electric's Nuclear Divisions in both Richland, WA and San Jose, CA. He was also employed by Lockheed in Sunnyvale, CA.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe DeVoss, sisters Mary DeVoss Money and Hazel DeVoss Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years Colleen C. DeVoss, his son Mark G. DeVoss, son Dr. B. Scot DeVoss and wife Betts, daughter Suzette DeVoss Murray and granddaughter Julia Murray.
A memorial in celebration of Hank's life will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 1pm immediately followed by a reception at The Episcopal Church of Almaden 6581 Camden Ave. San Jose, CA 95120. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Episcopal Church of Almaden.
