James House Obituary

James Richard House, 69, of San Jose, entered into God's kingdom on February 27th 2023. He was born May 8th 1953 in Hammond, Indiana, to George C. and Mattie J. (Jan) House. Jim, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and Papa, is survived by his wife Sharon of 45 years; daughters Christine (Guy), Jacquelyn, and Katelyn; sons Ryan (Amanda) and Timothy; grandsons Cooper, Cade, Carson, Jack, and Wyatt, granddaughters Elle and Harley Ann; father George C.; brother Thomas P. (Kim), sisters Laura L. Bauer (Rick) and Judith R. Freitas (Rod), numerous nephews and nieces, and his devoted dog, Peyton. He is preceded in death by his mother Mattie Jeanette (Jan); and brothers Harlan (Harley) E. and Michael A. Upon graduation from Piedmont Hills High School ('72), Jim left to Nevada where he attended the University of Reno playing on the Nevada Wolfpack football team as a scholarship recipient. Jim and Sharon began their long-distance courtship just out of high school, and married January 14th 1978. Once back in San Jose, Jim worked tirelessly at several ventures, most notably: real estate. While he loved helping others find their forever homes, his real passions were hunting, fishing, camping and various adventures with his beloved kids and grandkids. Jim began traveling to the Northwest Utah area in 1979 where he continued to spend two full weeks each year hunting and working cattle with dear family friends. Jim had the personality to make friends with anybody he came across. He was never shy to tell you a good joke, a good story, or good advice, and always available to lend a helping hand. Jim was truly a great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family, who loves him dearly. His passing has left an unfillable gap in the hearts of his loved ones. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, and love will forever be engrained in all he knew. A memorial mass will take place on Tuesday, March 14th at 11:30am at St. John Vianney Church located at 4600 Hyland Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Omg. It was shocking to me to see that Jim had passed. i worked with Jim at the San Jose Flea Market in the 1970s. He was such a vibrant person with a terrific energy for life. I always admired Jim for the way that he embraced life and was so outwardly friendly. Even in the 70s, he expressed how greatly he loved Sharon and how he knew she would always be in his life. It is with great sorrow and sincere bless that I hope Jim´s family will live with the vigor that Jim always displayed. With all of my heart, may God bless you.

I met Jim my first semester at UNR. He and Tom Kolesar lived across the hall at Nye Hall. He and Tom took my roommate Randy and I under their wing, and showed us the way, along with a number of good times. Just saw his passing in the alumni magazine. Very sorry to hear that.

The Houses Family were our neighbors . Mr. George and Jan House and their children: Harvey. Michael, Jim, Tom, Laura and Judy. I have very fond and great memories hanging out at their house and playing around having fun playing football, watching them Bring home deer to make venison jerky or playing in thier yard on the grass and eating snacks with them all after school. Yes Jim was a great football player even as a young kid in the streets. He could pass and throw the football and outrun even his brothers. May God bring you comfort during these times and may God be with you all during Jim's passing. I am so blessed with great memories while living on Golf Drive.

Before google, yelp, or youtube there was Jim House. He knew everything. He could tell you where to exactly go to what you needed. He was extremely proud of his wife, family and grandkids. To me Jim was so patient and loving. I will dearly remember my Jimbo as our 21st Century John Wayne; a Cowboy, Handsome and a Gentle Heart. Until I see you again, RIP Jimbo.

I was extremely fortunate to have attended Piedmont Hills and be a member of the remarkable Class of 1972. Jim was a stellar student in our class. I was in awe of and initially intimidated by his incredible athleticism: he received the Ribisi Athlete Scholar Award and was Commissioner of Athletics. Jim was a kind and decent and honest individual: in the increasingly coarse and ruptured country in which we live he was a true gentleman. He was one of those extraordinary "ordinary " human beings who are rarely acknowledged but make this world livable and memorable. It was an honor to have been your friend, Jim. My condolences to you, Sharon, and your children and all family members.
