Resident of Aptos, CA
John Edward Morley, Sr., "Papa," passed away while recovering from pulmonary surgery in Aptos California May 5 at the age of 71.
He is survived by wife and life partner of 42 years, Julia Morley, sons Sean Morley (Nicole), Eric Morley (Holly), stepson Todd Berman (Geo), stepdaughter Carrie Berman, and seven grandchildren - Joshua, Grayson, Hudson, Logan, Emerson, Preston, and William. He is also survived by brother Glenn Morley (Christel), and sisters Maureen Maruca (John) and Shannon Harmon (Andy, deceased). He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Marion, brother Michael (Janice), and sister Patricia Lewis (Walter).
John was born in upstate New York and moved to Los Gatos with his family in 1955. He attended University Avenue School, Los Gatos High School and San Jose City College. John started as a stock boy in the paint industry, including at Fuller O'Brien Paint Corporation, where he rose to Vice President of International Marketing over 26 years with the company. He ultimately retired to Aptos, CA with his wife Julia.
John was a passionate reader and proud of his Irish heritage. He was an avid wood worker, furniture builder and antique refinisher, a passion that continued throughout his life. John taught his children the patience of fishing, was a committed soccer coach in Los Gatos AYSO, and often would leave work early so not to miss his children's sporting events. He was also proud of his 36 years of sobriety.
Every night for 42 years, no matter what kind of day we had, just before going to sleep he always said to Julia, "Good night. God bless. I love you." And now we all say to you, John, good night, God bless, and we all love you.

I remember John from grammar school and high school. Always friendly, always with a smile. I just lost my husband so I know what the family and his wife must be going through.
