John Taylor Obituary

John R. Taylor
Dec 15, 1948-Feb 11, 2013
Resident of San Jose
Beloved husband of Nga Ton Nu, the love of his life, whom he married late in mid-life at age 52 and settled into a very happy family life with Nga and her son Van. John was born in San Jose Hospital in the early evening, attended Pioneer High School and graduated from San Jose State College with a degree in Math. He worked as a nuclear engineer at G.E. and at NuTec until nuclear energy was eliminated.
On warm summer days John could be found on the golf course with his best friend Steve Zoller.
As a teenager John and brother Bob spent many weekends in Santa Cruz body surfing. This prepared him for the trips to Hawaii body surfing the big waves.
He was an avid skier, spending winters skiing at Heavenly Valley and the annual trip to Aspen with Steve.
In the earlier days he played in many softball leagues with brother Bob and Steve, in and around San Jose.
Beloved Son of Robert A. Taylor Sr. (deceased) and Alma G. Taylor, older brother Robert A. Taylor, Jr., uncle to J. Mitchel Taylor (wife, Lenore), great uncle to Mariah and Anthony Taylor.
A Memorial Celebration of John's life, officiated by Rev. Rebecca Irelan, will be held on Saturday, 2/16 at 2 pm in Chapel of the Oaks at Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose, CA 95125. Relatives and close friends are invited to attend. Reception will be held at the home of his mother in San Jose. Those who wish to speak should call Alma or Nga. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the Lung Cancer Society.

Many neighborhood memories. That left-handed swing and smooth shot will always be remembered. A good friend being at my wedding 25 years ago was special.Wish we could have skied more together. My sincere condolences to John's wife and family.
