Fue algo impactante cuando nos dieron la triste noticia en el torneo de Manteca, para nosotros y para nuestro hijo que igual que Jonathan usa el numero 8 en el Atletico Santa Rosa U-10. Aun mi hijo Diego conserva un zapatito de futbol que Jonathan le regalo en un partido de futbol. Siempre estara en mi corazon y siempre fue y sera un buen amigo y no un contrario. Dios les de el valor y fortaleza que necesitan para seguir adelante con sus otros hijos, y recuerden que "Pretty Boy" desde arriba anota goles y siempre estara con ustedes.

Chavez family, there is of course no words that can console you from this great loss. I was saddened when I received the phone call on Sunday morning from the Santa Clara Sporting Club Sports Director Luis Azevedo. I was associated with the Santa Clara Sporting Club for over 30 years and never so saddened as when I got this news. To read about the love that your son had for this game and the innocence to not want to have his shirt cut because he had a game the next day was overwhelming. I just could not stop crying at work, but my tears soon turned to pride to think of the enormous joy your son had for this game his team and the club. I know that every time those boys from his team step onto the field of play Jonathan will be right there with them and they will be with him. May God bless you and your family and keep your little Jonathan safe at his side.

I know there are no words that will take the pain that you are experiencing at the loss of Jonathan - but I know there is no doubt that he is a Soccer Angel in Heaven! I went to the memorial service on Sunday and I had the privilege of witnessing the hundreds of people, including his teammates that knew who whe was and loved him. My grandson, Keyshaun, played in the same Manteca soccer tournament and his team played against Jonathan’s team this past weekend. Because we were unable to attend the jamboree, our daughter gave a “play-by-play” commentary over the phone and it was wonderful to hear the players and the support given by cheering parents, siblings and friends of both teams.

We were very saddened to hear of your terrible accident and death of your son, Jonathan. He would be pleased and proud of you for saving his jersey and then for giving it away when it was needed!

Our hearts go out to you for your loss. Our daughter is part of the SCSC U18, so I know how strong the bond is from the club. You will forever be in our hearts and prayers. When I heard the news yesterday a poem came to mind which is below, please find comfort in the Lord..........
