Joseph Evers Obituary

Joseph A. Evers, M.D.
Dec 4, 1928 - Nov 18, 2015
Resident of Los Gatos
Joe passed away due to heart failure. The family enjoyed a short period of his improved lucidity before his passing, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease and other health problems.
During the Great Depression, Joe's family moved from Oregon to Sacramento, CA where he first got involved in Boy Scouts and graduated from Grant Union High School. In the Army Medical Corps, Joe served in Japan at the end of WWII. With help of the G.I. Bill, he graduated from U.C. San Francisco College of Pharmacy. Receiving his Doctorate of Medicine from George Washington University in Washington D.C., Joe was Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Santa Clara Medical Center. He practiced at Good Samaritan and Community Hospitals. Joe was a member of the Santa Clara Medical Society and a clinical asst. professor in the Stanford School of Medicine.
Boy Scouts of America was a real passion for Joe. He was involved in scouting for 55 years, achieving Eagle Scout as a teen and receiving the Silver Beaver Award for Distinguished Service as an adult. He gave his time in summer to be Camp Doctor and leader at scout camps in the Sierras. He was a devoted member of the Cambrian Plaza Kiwanis Club and of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Joe worked hard for his family and the community. He inspired many of us to persist at every task, to excel in our endeavors and to find joy in life. He is deeply missed.
Joe Evers is survived by his wife Heidi of 51 years, his 2 daughters Krista & Kara, his son Kent and his nephew Jack.

I am so sorry for your loss. He delivered both my daughters and was one of the most trust doctors I have had. I am now a great grandmother and if it wasn't for his great care I would not have had any of the blessing in my life that children bring you. I thank him in my heart all the time.
