Lois Banke was my first piano teacher when she and her husband moved to Van Nuys in 1960. She was so gifted and I have been thinking about her so much of late. I still have all the music she taught me and just started playing piano again after a five year break. I am saddened to hear of her passing.

Thank you Lois for being such an excellent and inspiring teacher throughout my childhood and all the way through high school! I owe all my musical education to you, as well as the ability to play so many beautiful pieces which I will continue to revisit for my whole life. I always think of you when I play now:) Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world, you will be missed!

Rest in peace, Lois. I see your photo and remember the wonderful lessons, the timeless advice, and the beautiful music you shared with me and my fellow piano students. Most of all, I remember your personal ministry to me when I needed spiritual direction. I hope I was able to convey to you while you were still on this earth how much that meant to me. The world is a better place because you were in it. Thank you again, and may your family carry on your Godly mission.

I knew Lois who was a friend to my mom, Barbara Kuhlman. Lois was a classy, kind, friendly lady. I know that she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Rest in peace, Lois.

Lois was such an intelligent, gifted and articulate musician. I feel very fortunate to have been able to study with her when preparing for performances. RIP Dear Lady!

Lois was my piano teacher after I earned my B.A. in music. She inspired me more than any of my professors and taught me new ways of learning piano that I pass on to my student. Her wonderful soul shined through her teaching and performances—a soul that shines even brighter now. Peace to you dear Lois. Be filled with love and light and may that love and light forever touch your loved ones as well. -Veronica Vitale
