M. Bridges Obituary

M. Audrey Bridges
1926-2022
Los Gatos
Maryon "Audrey" Bridges passed away peacefully on January 10, 2022 in San Jose. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Audrey was born in Norwood, OH to Herbert and Pearl Carter. She often shared her fond memories growing up in the "Great Midwest". Her family moved from Ohio to Philadelphia, PA for a short time when she was 12 years old and later settled in St. Louis, MO where she spent her high school years. After attending the University of Missouri, she came out to San Francisco to visit her sister Louise and decided to stay. It was in a guest house in San Francisco that she met Arthur H. Bridges with the "most divine blue eyes in all of San Francisco". They married in Reno on May 3, 1951. Following the birth of daughter Kristina, they moved to Cupertino and then to Campbell after daughter Kirsten was born. Audrey was a great mom putting her all into raising her two daughters. In 1964 the family moved to Los Gatos. It was there she began volunteering at EMQ Happy Dragon. On the first and third Tuesday of every month for 48 years you could find Audrey behind the cash register there. In addition to volunteering, she and Arthur played golf weekly with the Mid-Peninsula Seniors. Audrey was also an avid reader and big supporter of the Los Gatos Library.
Audrey is preceded in death by her husband Arthur Bridges, her parents Herbert and Pearl Carter and sister Louise Mathews. She is survived by daughters Kristina (Wayne Hopp Jr) and Kirsten (Ivor Barber); grandchildren Sarah (Kristopher Duarte), Wayne Hopp III (Sheree), and Audrey (Nick Lappin); and great-grandchildren Xander, Tristan, and Sophie.
There will be no service. You can honor Audrey's memory by making a donation to the "Friends of the Los Gatos Library".
