Mark Benoit Obituary

Mark Benoit
April 25, 1940 - May 21, 2022
San Jose
Mark Anthony Benoit passed away early last Saturday morning after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.
Mark was born in Gary, Indiana and moved with his family to Tucson, Arizona where he graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School. After high school, he served in the US Navy for several years, where he served as an Aviation Electrician's Mate. Mark had a long career in the telecommunications industry, working for the same company for 35 years through three different names: Western Electric, AT&T and finally Lucent Technologies. He was an involved father, participating in children's sports and in scouting, and an involved member of his community, serving in the Evergreen Community Association for many years. After retiring in 2002, he stayed active in his family and his community, and he shared his faith and his love of history as a docent at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph.
He is survived by his loving wife of over fifty years, Pamela; his children, Suzette, Mark Jr, Monique, Michele, Matthew, and Michael; as well as his many grandchildren. He is also survived by his two loving sisters, Joan McGowan and Betty Lou Martin. Mark was a thoughtful and kind man, and a great storyteller. His humor, his passion, and his love of life will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation followed immediately by a rosary on Friday, June 3rd at 6:30pm at Darling & Fischer Chapel of the Hills, 615 North Santa Cruz Ave in Los Gatos. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4th at Noon at Holy Spirit Church, 1200 Redmond Ave, San Jose. Burial to follow at Los Gatos Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

Just learned of Mark Benoit's passing. We installers remember Mark as just one of the fellas who followed the old WECo, Western Electric Company installer slogan:
"No job is so important
and no service is so urgent
that we cannot take time
to perform our work safely".
WECo's management and staff ran the company with military efficiency. We worked locally and we worked across the country. We maintained life-long friendships. Mark was among the best of the best. Sincere condolences to Mark's family and friends. He will be missed by all. Rest in Peace Mark.

So sorry to hear about Mark. I was a docent at the Cathedral and looked forward to the times I was assigned to work with him. If we weren't busy we had fun chatting, telling stories, etc. I enjoyed his sense of humor. Love to all his family. He was an exceptional human being!
