Michie Kinoshita Obituary

Michie Kinoshita
July 15, 1920 - December 25, 2021
Resident of San Jose
Michie Kinoshita passed peacefully to be with her Lord on Christmas Day, 2021. It was raining that day which seemed like God's tears were falling. Michie was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her passion was her family whom she cared for and loved throughout her life.
Michie was born on July 15, 1920 in Fowler, CA. She lived in Japan as a young girl and came back to the US after graduating from high school in 1939. She married Kaneto Kenneth Kinoshita in 1940 in Bakersfield, CA. She had a son, Eugene, in 1941 and a second son, Gerald, in 1942. Her courage and faith were tested as she was incarcerated in Poston, AZ as part of Executive Order 9066 during WWII. Her third son, Dennis, was born in 1944. After the war, she moved to Wilson, AR and then back to Bakersfield where she was a caring homemaker raising three rambunctious sons. Michie, a farmer's daughter, was a hard worker. In addition to taking care of life at home, she spent much of her life toiling in the fields often in very harsh conditions. After her sons were grown, Michie worked for California Almond Company. She attended St. Andrews UMC in Bakersfield and was a life-long Christian. In 1993, Michie and Kaneto moved to San Jose and joined Wesley UMC.
Michie was gentle, quiet, and loving and thought of others before herself. Her motto was "I tried to do the best I could all my life." She was a fantastic cook, seamstress, and loved fashionable clothes. She was happiest when she was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at family gatherings. We will miss her very much.
Michie was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 2004 after 64 years of marriage. She is survived by her sons Eugene (Louise), Gerald, and Dennis (Laura). Six grandchildren, Laurie Beaver (Dean), Lisa Kinoshita (Brian), Erin Schlough (Bill), Michael Kinoshita, Matthew Kinoshita (Caroline), and Kerri Kinoshita Dierolf (Mark), and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Private services have been held. In lieu of flowers, you may make contributions to Wesley United Methodist Church of San Jose in memory of Michie.

Dear Michie Kinoshita family, my condolences to all of you. I met your mother at Golden Heritage Assisted Living, when my parents moved downstairs needing more help with daily life. Michie was so sweet, I always enjoyed seeing her & her smiling face. Once in a while we chatted. I think I actually hugged her once. I felt connected to her. My parents seemed to enjoy her company. Turns out my parents, Art & Shirley Ogisaka, were also members of Wesley UMC. I wonder if they knew each other in their younger days. Dad passed away in November 2020 at age 102 almost 103 & mom in August 2021 at age 95. They all lived such long & storied lives. We are so blessed.
Again I am sorry for your loss.

Our sincere condolences to you Gene and Gerry and Dennis. What an interesting life your Mother had!!
We were so surprised your mom was born in Fowler. My mother was born in Fowler in 1918!
What a coincidence. Hopefully your mom did not suffer too much. Hope you are all doing well, considering.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Larry and Kathy Garabedian
