Passed away peacefully at Stanford Hospital on October 24th, 2018 at the age of 61, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Missy was born on November 12th, 1956 in Palo Alto, California to Barbara and Dick Lutz, a fourth generation Californian. Missy grew up in Los Altos Hills, she attended Los Altos High,The University of Oregon and received a degree in Marketing at San Jose State. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.
After graduation Missy quickly climbed the ladder of the corporate world, working in marketing communications for Cisco and then HP. Missy was married to Blair Philip in 1990, and had three children: Spencer, Pierce and Meghan. Missy's children served as her biggest pride and joy. Once they were born she left the corporate world to raise them while Blair began a golf business.
Missy had the largest heart and was full of compassion, constantly displaying what it means to be selfless. She was passionate about volunteering and was on numerous PTA boards, Peninsula Volunteers and always a room-mom each year for all of her children. She always had a smile on her face and touched everyone she met with her "joie de vivre."
Missy is survived by her three children, Mother, and Sister. Friends and Family are invited to the viewing on Monday, October 29th at Spangler Mortuary in Los Altos between 4-8 PM. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, October 30th at St. Nicholas Church in Los Altos at 11:00 AM. In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to Peninsula Volunteers or Pediatric Congenital Heart Association.

I am truly shocked, and deeply saddened, to her of Missy’s passing two years ago. I will always remember her serene composure and diligence at our workplace in the 1980’s in Mountain View. Sending sincerest condolences to the family. She was a very special lady.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Missy. I wish that we had reconnected since I moved to Reno. Such fond memories of swimming, riding in her carriage, summer camp, and playing Barbie dolls! My heartfelt blessings to all of the family.
