Mona Theresa Brown
June 27, 1934 - November 25, 2020
Resident of Campbell
On November 25, 2020, the eve of Thanksgiving, Mona Theresa (McGuire) Brown, left us for her heavenly rest after a sudden illness, unrelated to Covid, in Los Gatos, CA. Her beloved husband, Maurice F. Brown, was able to kiss her goodbye. During her transition, her children - Terri, Murray, and Wayne - were by her side, while the day's sky was a peaceful blue, and neighboring streets began to hang Christmas lights to brighten the dark night.
Mona was loved by all. Her family always knew how much she was loved by everyone in her life's path, but it was not until her passing that her family truly understood the depth and quality of love others had for our Mona. The amount of love she possessed for everyone she met was abundant, vast, and selfless. The love she had for her family was endless and eternal. Mona was once asked, "If you could relive any part of your life, what would it be," she replied, "Definitely starting a family. I would relive that over and over - it was the happiest I have ever been." Her family was her world. To her family, she was their world - their matriarch.
Born June 27, 1934 in Kirkland Lake Ontario, Canada. In 1955, Mona moved to Toronto and soon married and began a wonderful life adventure of 65 years with her dear love, Maurice. Shortly after arriving in the United States, they created their first home in Santa Clara in 1957, then later moved to Cupertino, and for the last 32 years resided in their current home in Campbell. Despite her deep roots in California, her heart and soul was Canadian through and through.
Growing up, her life was far from easy. Being on her own from a young age and enduring polio as a child, she raised herself to be a strong, determined, and independent woman - doing whatever needed in order to make a better life for herself. Mona and Maurice have three children, who are their pride and joy: Terri Abb (San Jose), Murray Brown (San Jose), and Wayne Brown (Sonoma). Mona adored her son and daughter-in-laws: William Abb Jr., Nancy Adams, and Pamela Brown. Beyond being a proud mother, Mona found pure joy as a grandmother to: Jenna Abb-Mittleman (Scott Mittleman) and Julia Abb-Gonterman (Ronald Gonterman); Ashley Brown-Obagi (Zein Obagi Jr.) and Gregory Brown; Megan, Abbey, and Owen Brown. She was a great-grandmother to Avery, Ardyn, and Everly.
The pandemic truly affected our family and friends from having the loving goodbyes that Mona would have cherished. Her generous love she shared with everyone, everyday, will remain in our hearts forever. Every hummingbird we see will remind us and embrace us of life's sweetness with "Loads of Love" from our Mona.
