From the NorCal and SoCal Big Dawgs websites; after a suggestion on April 15th by bggrnchvy that there be a memorial run in August of this year:
FRIZZLEFRY posted August 16, 2009: We need to make this an annual run. We make it a Jason and Noel memorial run and have it every August.
Barbastard posted that same day: I love the idea and totally agree.
Therefore on the 13th through 16th of August 2009; the two clubs will be going on the first annual Dozer/Willyswanter memorial run. As many will remember, Jason had organized the Dozer memorial run in August of 2007, the run in which Jason drowned and joined his good friend Dozer.

Thank you so much to everyone who has posted something about Noel. I just found out yesterday about this website and had to post something myself. My name is Dora, I am one of noel’s daughters. Noel though me so much in a short period of time. He and my mom got married in 2004, and to him he didn’t have step kids because to him we’ve always been his children. My dad was an amazing dad! He showed me what it meant to have god in my life. He showed my family what true off roading was about. When I needed someone to talk to he was right there to listen. When I didn’t understand some type of homework he was there to try his best to help. Whenever you were sad he was there to make you smile. The day he passed away felt as if a part of yourself had died too because he was such a big part of each one of us. I love my dad more than anything in the world, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss seeing him run around thinking of a new rig we can make. What crazy things we can try next. Hearing his voice, getting a hug, hearing love you guys have a great day. He though me what a family was all about and I look forward using what he told me later on in life. There’s so many people that just by reading these post wish they met him, lucky I have the honor of calling him my dad!! God bless you daddy watch over our family as I know you have been. Thank you everyone for everything!!! GOD BLESS! RIP DOZER!!!!
miss you daddy-o!!!!

I knew Noel as a child; back in the early 70's. He was industrious; always welding bikes and stuff... including my own, which my grandfather didn't like. Oddly, although not close, I always wondered what Noel was doing. He lived across the street from Billy Shendell, in Millbrae. A great neighborhood that Noel contributed to as a 'helper'.

I walked by the back of my truck today and saw my collection of memorial stickers for my son Jason and Noel "Dozer" and found myself talking to Noel’s sticker. I told him I hope he and J have found each other, are having a great time wheeling in the clouds and to watch over my boy.
Jason told his mom this about a month after he passed:
"I talked to Dozer today; well didn't really talk but communicated somehow but not sure how, but I'll figure it out."
When we went to J's apartment we found a hole the shape of J's fist in the wall that was made at the time he heard about Noel.

I met Noel in '95 at Alamden Plumbing where I got a job as a plumbers helper right out of high school. He was my mentor for nearly 3 years and was like and older brother. I had often lamented that I lost touch with him after I left California and now this news leaves me full of regret.
Noel you were a mentor, a trusted friend, and a kind soul. It was an honor to have worked by your side.

I was able to meet Noel only once, when I was visiting his daughter Dora. He was so happy and energetic. I was appalled when I heard he passed away. He seemed like an amazing person and it is such a shame to see him go.
Rest in Peace.

I was thinking about Dozer and my son Willyswanter today and wondering what the two of them were up to. I’m sure they are wheeling and fabbing (not sure if this is a word) together as they did here on earth. Dozer was J’s mentor as J’s was mentor to many young guys in his life. I need to contact Deb and see how she is doing and stay in contact. I just noticed that Jason is the sponsor of this site for Dozer, too cool and I’m sure J was honored to do so.

It's neat to read all of these replies and see how loved and respected he was (and still is). The fact that he died of a younger age, but still used those seldom years to accomplish so much friendship and leadership. Saddens me that I didn't get a chance to meet such a devout and dedicated friend. RIP Noel.

Truly a huge loss to the wheeling community and this country. I had the pleasure of meeting him at this years TTC-- He stopped by while I was working on my rig after dark--was probably on his way to do some socializing/partying elsewhere, but stopped to ask if I needed any help- offered me parts even. From my conversations with him, I realized he was the type of person you would want as your friend, neighbor, boss, etc. Wish I could have gotten to know him better.

Noel was not only a great friend he was family. Noel and Debbie have always treated my family and I like family. The only thing that comforts my heart now is to know that he has gone to take his rightful place in Heaven.
Jesus said "I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life." Noel definetly had the light of life. He will be deeply missed. Every time I run a trail he will be in my thoughts.
Today when I walked into his shop and saw my rig sitting next to Dozer I started thinking of the good times we had together and it reminded me again that they were all good times when Noel was around.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family. If there is anything our family can do please dont hesitate.
This life is but a blink of the eye,Heaven is for eternity. see ya when I get there.Love ya Noel

noel was and will always be someone special to me. We had a friendship that i will never have with another, we understood eachother on a equal plane of trucks and what could be done with them. he helped me so much with my truck, setting me up with propane which was a life saver giving me pointers on my build. he will always be in my heart especially when i am wheeling. everytime i run the tank traps i will remember walking it with him at mud in yer eye. as for the family i am so sorry he was a great father and will be missed. i will be at the services with out a doubt.
R.I.P. to the man that most just knew him as dozer.

I never had the privelege of meeting Noel so i can only imagine what a good man he was. From reading all the comments it became clear to me that he was the kind of person that we all wish we could be, from being not only a loving husband and father but A MAN OF GOD. That is an honor above all honors, and even though he will be missed here on this earth he is in a place where there is no sickness or pain. The angels are rejoicing his presence beside the throne of GOD. RIP brother, INSANITY

WOW, im sadend and shocked to hear this about Noel. I didn't know him as well as some, but did get to wheel with him a few time in Hollister at a few Blazer Bash events, and last year in Moab. What a great guy. He was everything everyone has already said.
He has left an empty space in the off-road community that will be hard to fill.
RIP Noel. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Damn…this sucks. Noel was a really cool cat, a great guy to hang with and an awesome fellow club member. I met him several years ago at one of our earliest Blazerfests and he was ALWAYS down to help out who ever needed any help and always offered up his best stories and humor for all to enjoy.
Last year at Moab we sat around a campfire in the rain and BS’d about propane powered rigs and blowing stuff up. He even filled up my propane tanks when I couldn’t find any around camp. Then we spent an awesome day cruisin’ around the gold bar rim trail.
You will be missed Noel….but your big heart, stories and memory will live in on through your family and all the people you came in contact with.

We were able to hang out with him at hollister and had a blast. He showed us the area , explained the ins and outs of poison oak , showed us some wild spices , we heard many wheeling stories and he told us the places we need to see as well as wheel. It's a huge loss , he was a hell of a guy. My thoughts are with you and your family Debbie .He was one of those people that truely left a lasting impression.
Rest in peace Noel and thankyou for being a part of my life if only for a moment.

I had the pleasure of meeting Noel and his beautiful wife Debbie this year at TTC with my husband Clayton. I have never met a kinder couple of people in my life. Clay and I loved his buggy and we were excited to meet up with him again in the very near future. This has shocked me and broke my heart to hear of this news. He showed us great generosity when he took 20 of us out for dinner one night and replied "it's no different than taking out my family!"
To Debbie & Noel's 16 children.... I am so sorry to hear of Noel's passing and I send my deepest heartfelt sympathies to you & your family during this time of need.

WOW!!!
What a shock to read. Noel was one of the coolest cats I've had the pleasure to meet. Wheeled with him once through friends and 2 yrs. later when I was looking for a set of gears, he not only gave them to me but told me to bring the housing over so he could help me set them up. This was in the middle of his MASSIVE TTC rebuild so I was shocked he took the time to help with this and also let me drool over and ask all kinds of questions about Dozer. I was really looking forward to the day I got to wheel with him again. He told me to bring my rig over anytime to run his rock pile.
Noel is one of the few people that when it is said he is wheeling in a much better place, I have no doubt about it. He was a saved Christian and he was working hard to bring his 16 children to the Lord. He never hid his religion from anyone (as shown on the old hood of Dozer). He even told me he didn't know why God had given him all the children but that he felt blessed to be called their father.
Debbie, I've only met you a couple of times but if there is anything I can do to help, by all means let me know. Also, if you decide on a public service, please post the info so I may attend.
Look forward to wheeling with you soon Noel.

I first met him in 2003 at the last Blazerfest I attended, ran into him in 2004 right before I left Cali and then I saw him again last year at Blazer Bash. If there was one guy in this sport that made the Top 3 of folks who I would want to wheel with, it was Noel. For the short time that I knew him, he always stood out. From the rigs he drove to bringing out the brooms come raffle time, Noel always made an impression on folks.
If I ever get back into the groove to semi-attending NCOR events, Noel's face will be sorely missed........................................

I have known Noel for the Better part of 10 years... meeting him in the old chevy pick-up he quickly turned it into what is now the long since sold tweaker. He soon built dozer, not once but a couple times and this is the rig im used to seeing today. Three weeks ago we went to coyote lake, i never would have guessed that would be dozers last outing. It's hard to put this all together but everyone has been so supportive and i can only be thankful that i got to spend as much time as i have had with noel, and his family. These last couple of days have been so hard and only by remembering the great times and constant family hugs from noel and debbies beautiful children have i been able to cope with losing my friend.

Noel was the best person I have ever met on the trail, it was a true pleasure wheeling with him. I was disappointed that I didn't get to wheel with him at the hammers this past season due to various reasons, but I will always remember him being there and giving me support and credit for building my first buggy. I wish I could make it to the memorial service, but Noel will ALWAYS leave a lasting impression when I go wheeling, he was one of the best, and it sucks that he had to leave us way too soon. RIP Noel, you will be remembered forever.

I met him a couple of times and got to spend some time wheeling, wrenching in his shop, screwing around and also some time in some pretty serious discussions. Noel was extremely passionate about wheeling and building the baddest trucks he could imagine. Most people that enthusiastic about a hobby tend to neglect their family but from what I saw, Noel still put his family before his hobby. He always boasted about how great it was to be the dad to 16 kids. (I just had my 2nd and I get wiped out as it is). I was hoping to wheel Swamp again with Noel once I get my Rocks under the Cruiser but I guess it will have to wait a bit.

Real sorry to hear the news, my condolances. Frown
Noel was an awsome guy, anyone could learn a lot from him.
I know he taught me a lot about wheeling.
I really enjoyed wheeling with him, and he will be deeply missed by everyone. It won't be the same without him.
He would always be there to help anyone on the trail, especially in this club, even if it was the first time he met you.
The first run i brough kevin on, before he was a club member he got stuck at the end of jungle trail, and Noel spent a good hour helping and winching..
He was the only guy i know that would drive up a tree and flop his truck over just for the hell of it at midnight.
I broke last year at blazerfest and Noel came over and lent us his onboard welder, help, and advice for half the day instead of being out on the trail.
I think i still have a can of WD-40 in my trail box he let me use..
He drove all the way to Morgan Hill for the pacific fab BBQ.
He bought us all dinner in Moab the first night we got there,
all you could eat pizza.
These are just some of the good memories i have of him, that show what kind of a great guy he was.. He will be missed and i'll never forget him.
